I lost 120 lbs and kept it off and so can you!
You may have spotted me all over town last year as I walked my way to losing over 100 lbs. You may have read some of Spot Jan’s story on Facebook. You’ve cheered me on and encouraged me more than you know through beeps, waves and comments. Now, I share with you the tips and tricks that got me losing weight fast as heard at the Ames Free library.
In this real talk, I share how I got to the point of weighing over 300 lbs at the age of 50, the injuries and losses that were my catalysts for change, the challenges and triumphs along the way, and finally, how I kept it off. I’m sharing real information on changes you can make during your weight loss journey…how and what I ate, how I increased my activity level, along with my best advice for others wanting, or needing, to make a similar journey.
There were times I felt alone and times I found the support of my community (during the crunches and squats challenge); emotional meltdowns that could have derailed me (thinking I wasn’t good enough) but didn’t, and lots of fun, like shopping sprees to add a few things here and there as everything I owned got too big and was donated (the first jeans shopping was great, as was the swimsuit expedition!).
Overall, it was a crazy, wonderful year filled with physical change, new people, new experiences and a new career (became a personal trainer so I can help others with their own journey). I’ve loved every minute of learning how to lose 100 lbs (yes, even the challenging ones), loved sharing it in this video, and can’t wait to see what’s next and keep sharing Spot Jan’s story that is my life. If even one person is inspired to start their own weight loss journey because of me, it’s worth it.
